A cat bed is just for decoration.

Cats will have a perfectly good bed and still choose literally anything else. You buy a soft, cozy, top-tier cat bed and place it down like a proud paw-rent. The cat looks at it, maybe gives it a sniff, then walks over and flops onto a piece of cardboard like that's the real luxury.

Laundry? Perfect. A pile of clothes fresh out of the dryer becomes a five-star nap spot. A single sock on the floor? Also acceptable. Meanwhile, the actual bed sits there, untouched, like a very expensive suggestion.

Boxes are an obvious favorite. Too small, slightly crushed, doesn't matter. If it fits one paw, it's good enough. Then there are the random spots. A book, a laptop, a corner of a table, somehow all better than the bed designed specifically for them. Very practical. Very catculated choices.

Chairs get claimed, bags get flattened, and any surface that wasn't meant for sleeping suddenly becomes the best place to nap. The logic doesn't exist, but the commitment does. Once they pick a spot, that's it. That's the bed now.

Cats can have their own bed and still come over to cuddle up instead. The bed is right there, soft and empty, but they pick you every time. They’ll squeeze in, get comfortable, and act like that was always the plan. It doesn’t make much sense, but it’s hard to complain. At least it’s adorable.

Boxes will win every time with cats. It doesn’t matter how nice anything else is, if there’s a box, that’s the choice. Too small, slightly crushed, doesn’t matter. They’ll squeeze in and make it work. You can set up the perfect spot and they’ll still go straight for the box.

Cats are funny little guys. They’ll walk past a perfectly good bed and choose the most random thing instead. A box, a pile of clothes, a tiny corner of a chair, suddenly that’s the best spot. It doesn’t have to make sense, they just decide and go with it. You look at it and think no way that’s comfortable, but they’re completely fine. Just doing their own thing like always.
